Dating During Lockdown

The typical online mating game in the lesbian dating scene involves a lot of patience. It typically doesn’t involve the most conversation, and usually never includes meeting up.

The good, the bad and the ugly

Does dating during lockdown exist? It does, it just exists in a more condensed version of regular dating. There’s very little meeting up, and very little swiping because of the lack of ability to meet up. In my personal experience I was able to meet one girl online, on Bumble, and it’s been great. We talk about the lockdown, and coronavirus because what else is there to talk about nowadays?

We were curious about asking people what their experiences are like during the lockdown. So, we asked a few people about their dating habits during lockdown.

Have you gone on a date during lockdown?

“I haven’t been on a date since the lockdown started.”

How has your dating life changed since after lockdown?

“It’s dry af now.”

Have you been on a date since lockdown?

“No, people don’t talk much or I guess they don’t show much interest towards me. Yet on other platforms they talk. Few have shown eagerness to meet after COVID-19. One did come to meet, wasn’t a date, simply a drive through coffee. Dating life is the same you can say stalled. She came to pick me up in a car and we had coffee for 30 minutes. That was all.”

How has your dating life changed since after the lockdown?

“If not for COVID, I would have had dates.”

Have you been on a date since lockdown?

“No I haven’t.”

How has your dating life changed since after the lockdown?

“I haven’t really dated anyone in the past 4 years so it hasn’t really changed that much.”

Sarah, 29, Toronto, Canada
Pansexual Woman

Have you been on a date since lockdown?

“Nope I have not.”

How has your dating life changed since after the lockdown?

“It hasn’t really changed for me, really. If anything – talking to people has been a bit easier during the lockdown, because people are more available to chat. I don’t use dating apps too much usually because of this. So my experience with dating apps has been basically me matching with people, saying hello – not getting replies. Or matching and never speaking lol. During this whole thing I’ve noticed people are talking more.

It seems like COVID-19 has made a difference to some people, and made no difference for others. Those who have been in the dating game, do feel a dry spell while those who haven’t dated much in the past few years don’t see much of a difference. For now, it seems like people are complaining a little about the effect of COVID-19 on dating lives, but the lockdown continues.

The typical online mating game in the lesbian dating scene involves a lot of patience. It typically doesn’t involve the most conversation, and usually never includes meeting up. Dating as a lesbian can be terrible in that sense. But since the lockdown people have become more chatty because they’re stuck at home. So getting to know people has become easier. With everything and everyone slowed down during the lockdown, the dating game has become easier.

Once the lockdown is lifted we’ll see where things go. Our bet is that people will be eager to meet up with each other, and dating satisfaction will go up as well. Hopefully things will get better after the lockdown for those stuck at home with only their dildos to entertain them. Hoping you’ll be one of the happy ones too!
